Large dog martingale collar

It got well tested today. Evil kitty trotted down the road as we were out front with the dogs. On our side of the road of course. Apollo hit the end of the leash in a rush.....collar held! Evil kitty decided he didn't want to wait to find out if the collar would hold though, he took off to his yard fast lol

Fantastic to hear. I am always concerned about those buckles on powerfull dogs. I just ordered 5 more collars and some Golden Rod cord (more golden than gold) I have 3 orders to make today and another once I get some more blue.

Well Apollo was trying hard, I'm glad it was hubby on the end of the leash and not me TBH. So its holding well!

Why would you want a martingale with a quick release buckle? I mean doesn't that just increase the chances of the collar coming off of the dog? Just curious.

not if you use a quality buckle. And it DOES mean that I can get a fitted martingale that doesn't slip over his head and still be able to take it off him quickly in an emergency.

I have had several people buy this collar with and without buckles. Dogs with a smaller head can have a Martingale custom made so it is very snug and stays close to the neck this is an advantage so the dog can't back out of the collar easily. On dogs with larger heads like most mastiffs a slip on collar dangles loose on the dog and can be a hazard so a fitted one again can be a little snug and not be able to slip over the head but it's easy to release.

2 new ones I finished last night. 1 with and 1 without buckles.

This is for a Rhodesian Ridgeback

This one is for a Great Dane.

The metal buckle is holding up really well too. Next time I'm making something with a buckle I'll have to pick up some of these metal ones, I like it much more than the plastic ones.

I finally got Kujo a big boy collar and went with a Martingale. It's worked wonders and he hasn't had a single coughing fit after a walk! Mike, I love your work! When Kujos done growing I'll order one from you if that's alright ;)

Here's Kujo showing off, he seems very proud to have a big boy collar and doesn't want to take it off lol

I think they like their collars. If he grows out of that send me the chain and I will tie a collar onto that. It's a much better chain than the ones I can get.

Got it! I doubt he'll outgrow it, it's on the smallest setting possible right now and it comes off easily. I just want some of your beautiful work :) I think a forest green would look nice against his red fur :)

Ugh I want one! Lol at what she do you start using a martingale? I've always used choke collars.

I've always prefered martingales over chokes personally. You can get some fairly inexpensive, all webbing, ones at Petsmart, but they don't go up very big, but it'd give you a feel for how they work.

Jade was using a martingale at 10 weeks. Get a cheap one to test. The flat web type are good to start with, like Ruth said.
