Set up a place in the car for Leon to lay down, keep the windows open, have plenty of water and bring toys. I would recommend stopping every couple of hours for 10-15 minutes to stretch everyone's legs.

Most of all, be safe...

chew toy so he can occupy time? Night travel makes it easier with the baby sleeping!
Exercise for both before you start out so they are a bit tired and ready for a nap.
You NAP before and stay awake! Pull over if you are tired! Get there safely!

Bring paper towels and plastic bags, on car trips longer then an hour my girl gets car sick sometimes, not something you want to have to drive with in the car for a while, she gets excessive drool and lip smacking as a warning. One of those things though better to have and not need rather then need and not have

An extra cooler with frozen towels to help keep Leon cool. Small ones for chewing and larger ones to lay on also might help.

Here is what I bring when we do our 10hr trip 2x a year:

-Gas-x
-Dramamine/bonine.
-Dog bed with room for the dog to lay down
-Some toys and some stuff to chew
-More water and food that you need just in case.
-Bowl
-Paper towel roll
-Sensitive baby wipes
-Grocery bags
-Leash
-Vax records

MAKE SURE YOUR DOG HAS ID ON HIM/HER WITH YOUR CELL #

We usually start out at like 3am so I do not feed breakfast until about 7:00am/8:00am, whenever we make our first stop. Every stop we get the dogs out and make sure they go potty and walk around a bit. We try and stop every 3 hours after the first long stretch.
