Contact your vet to see if they have any recommendations for pet sitters or dog walkers. I actually have a pet sitting business that I run on my own on the side. Granted I don't charge people an arm & a leg, I keep my pricing reasonable. I have one client who's dog requires 3 visits per day when they are out of town. Typically I will be over there anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour per visit. I charge her $10 per trip. She lives fairly close. If she didn't, I'd consider charging her more.
When you ask your questions, I would make sure the person has giant dog experience. No matter how good your dog is behaved on walks, you add a stranger to the mix & it could potentially result in disaster. I'd maybe accompany the new person on a few walks with your dog & allow them to show you what their experience is. This will give you the opportunity to train the new person how to handle your pup.
Edit: maybe also check
Babysitters, Nannies, Child Care and Senior Home Care - Care.com they may have pet sitters in your area. I'm not completely sure if they have listings for Canada but it's worth a look to see if they do.
