Mastiff Rescue Being Bullied

This is a very sad story coming out of Quebec, Canada. Most of the dogs are terminally ill and the rescue provides them with a safe place to live out their final days.

Wow, it's hard to believe that people in this age can be so stupid and have such blinders on. There's always some idiot though waving a torch and leading the villagers on a rampage. Crossing the border is a good idea for although some communities have BSL in place, it's just here and there. I certainly wouldn't stay in a neighbourhood that was so obviously determined to do me or my dog's harm.

One thing occurs to me, perhaps the person or persons has a less obvious reason for wanting them gone...Perhaps they covet the property itself.

They have set up a petition to pressure the local government into renewing their permit to operate this Mastiff rescue. It's free to sign. I did

Wow. Just reading this. I met Madame Turcotte last year at the pet show in Ottawa last year. She was very kind and clearly loves the dogs she tries to help. The people in this "community" are void of all common sense. But that isn't all that unexpected in a small quebec town.

I really feel bad about this. She really devotes her entire existence to helping mastiff breeds. The only reason to get rid of this rescue is because people are ignorant.

Same here, poll.is closed. My sister lives in Ottawa and has meet this amazing women. Some people just don't get it.
Shame on them all. Rude and ignorant. If she comes to the Ontario side I hope she will continue to do the amazing work she has been doing.

If I lived closer Id go and walk dogs for her, we will see if her neighbour wants to bully me, I'm 6'2 and 280 lbs and am more than happy to be a prick when confronted.

I wanted to update this post. The rescue got the signatures they needed and had a lot of support at town hall - thank you to everyone who helped out! Sadly, their permit was still revoked. They are fighting it and haven't been run out of town yet and even took on a new case recently (a sick Neo named Gordon). I'll update when I hear more on the state of this rescue/sanctuary

The mastiff rescue is still fighting. The town is taking legal action against them. The dogs have been temporarily relocated to a safe location but it's looking grim. Both sides, the resuce and the town are suing each other
