Muzzle Recommendations

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on different types of muzzles? Maybe what has worked for them? We will need on for Bear with going to the vet when he comes into temperament and also one to put on possibly if we ever have guests over (rarely and will most likely just be kenneled).

Basket with a buckle (not a snap) would be my recommendation. That way it is more comfortable for him.

I originally ordered a Dean Tyler (DT Freedom Winter) one on the recommendation of my dog trainer, but I couldn't figure out the sizing and got one that didn't fit my dog. I really liked the quality, but decided to get one that I could try on my dog and return easily without paying return shipping. I ended up getting a plastic basket muzzle from Petsmart, and it works pretty well. I spend a couple minutes every day acclimating my Doberman to it, by feeding her EZ Cheese through the muzzle when she voluntarily puts her face in it. She gets very excited now every time I pick it up, and she is ok with me strapping it on.

Getting muzzle punched with a metal basket type muzzle really, really sucks.

We use an all leather muzzle that completely encloses the dogs entire mouth. It is stiff leather and has plenty of room inside for her, and plenty of air holes. Definitely get the buckle type or the dog will get it off, and don't be afraid to tighten it down. Dogs are amazing little Houdini's sometimes.

We do use the leather ones at the vets office and they do a good job, I just hate that the end of the mouth is still sticking out! I thought they made leather basket ones.
