My heart has been stolen by Mastiffs

This beautiful boy isn't even mine, but he has touched my heart.

Champ found himself at our shelter when someone tied him outside our doors while we were closed. His first day with us, he laid down in his kennel and just drooled and trembled. I got special permission to take him out of his kennel and get him away from the stress of the shelter and since then I have been coming each day in hopes of providing him some comfort and stress relief. It's taken four days, but yesterday he took a treat from me.

In my experience at his shelter, it is very rare when an adult Mastiff passes the Sue Sternberg behavioral evaluation, but this boy did! Hopefully he will be going to a rescue after his stray hold is up.

He is not even my dog, but I love him like he was. I pray that our Big Dog rescue will pick him up and that he will go on to have an amazing life with someone who can give him the confidence, security, and love he is longing for.

Mastiff have stolen my heart and I wouldn't have it any other way.

AB, he IS!!! He is not sure what to make about a lot in life, but his default is to move away or to place you in between himself and what concerns him and just observe. His preference is to walk on heel, but when I give him the opportunity to explore what he wants, he is ALWAYS checking back to make sure you are still with him.

When we hang out in the play yard after sniffing and tasting the grass, he likes to come over and sit on me. Right now he's not into toys, but it took him four days to take a treat from me so maybe toys will come a little later on.)

I am in COMPLETE love and yes, I find myself wishing that the timing was different and he could come home with me.

You know how to make wishes come true!?!.....The sad dogs need homes that understand them. Kismet has terrible nightmares. I don't know if you remember that Kismet was basically chained to the ground when she was found. We were watching Blacklist, they had some one chained up and you could hear them rattle. Kismet came unglued. She woke up growling and throwing a fit at the tv. It's happened a couple more times. It is really sad but then again they love so hard when they finally fill safe.

He looks to have a beautiful gentle soul. Shame on the ones who had him.
We had a English mastiff breeding girl at our shelter named Maggie May. My daughter who works there tried everything to convince Dad to bring her home. She and my daughter fell in love with each other. Even the other staff couldn't believe the turn around Maggie made with my daughter helping her.
In the end she went to a fabulous home.
Have faith!

I'm certain the work you're doing with him will help him transition to the rescue and a fabulous forever home, too!

He looks young, with lots of love yet to share!

My beautiful boy's hold date is up this Thursday and if all goes well, he will go to Big Dog Big Hearts here in Rochester. They are a WONDERFUL organization that will make sure he gets the home with the people who can best meet his needs.

Tina, this boy is SOOOO attached to people I am 90% sure he could be walked off leash and would stay right next to you. (I won't try it, but he is that connected to people!) When I walk him, drivers actually pull over to ask me questions about him. <3

He is going to rescue tomorrow. If you are interested, I can hook you up with the rescue.
