need help with growth

i recently got my first ddb. when i got him at 15 weeks he was 32lb, now he is 18 weeks and 39.5lb, not only was he a little small when i got him but he isn't growing much but also not eating much. so i changed him to a raw diet that he loves! he is still on the thin side but shouldnt a well bred ddb be bigger than this at this age? he is out of northland lineage and some lonleycreek/puppycreek dogs. he looks to me likes hes almost immature? if i saw him and didnt know his age i would guess 10-12 weeks. i saw his "brother from another litter" whos now 1.5 years and he was thin but a big boy. more athletic than sloppy like some, just cant imagine them being this small at that age.. and growth advice?:) i will post some pics.

7.5 pounds in 3 weeks is 2.5 pounds per week, it isn't horrible weight gain. Slow and steady gain is best. But I'd still check and make sure that the dog is free of parasites like Smart family said. Also, be careful with raw. While it is great for the dogs - if done correctly- you need to make sure that you balance it the diet out and that they are getting all of the nutrients that they need. It is not as simple as just giving them uncooked meat. Most likely you have already done raw before or have done your homework. But I just wanted to put that out there just in case! But send pics soon! I’m in the market right now for a DDB puppy and would LOVE to see the pics!!! Thanks and have a great day!

Every pup is different. Can you see ribs when he is standing? Mastiffs can grow for the first 3 years, in most cases they catch up. Slow steady growth is ideal with these giant pups.

18 weeks is closer to 4 months than 5. 18 times 7 divided by 30 = 4.2 (sorry I'm a little bit of a math nerd). I think that weight is ok for 4 months. If they had just broken 30lbs you might need to be concerned, but a 10 pound per month weight gain (on average) is pretty good that's a third of a pound per day. It's like Family said slow and steady. If you want the Dogue to reach its fullest potential don't spay or neuter.

Oh and your puppy is adorable! He looks great! Is it possible that the puppy might be younger than they said it was? That happened to a frined of mine. They got what they thought was an 8 week dog when in fact it was 5 weeks.

Lol its fine I suck at math.. that's him the day I got him at 32lb and now 3 weeks later he's at 39lb. Seems small compared to.others his age as well as talking to breeders say he's small I can upload a pic of the brother sorry I'm doing all this from my phone and its not easy. The raw is a balanced diet from a very reputable guy here locally. Used by a lot of holistic vets in the area and such. Some say he should be between 48-55 lb at this stage in his little life. Just seeing what all other opinions are. I did so much research before I finally got one just never to puppy size only adult!

I thought he was younger than the breeder said but akc paperwork said he was born 9-11-12

Mom is on the left and brother on the right, he is in the background

he is sweet, looking at the family pick he looks like he is one of the small ones in a litter don't worry he will catch up, he is a bit liter than my gypsy at that age but about 2lb that's all, a friends how have had DDBs for over 20 years say she is going to be a big girl for a DDB so i would not say he will stay little, thye do have sudden growth spurts gypsy has gained 4lb in one week that week she grow about 2" in height as well, hes body condition is good keep on as you are he will come around enjoy the little stage they dont stay little for long
