Yesterday a friend of mine came over. Athena has met her several times. My friend brought her brother who Athena has never met.

As usual, Athena was happy to see everyone, she's still very outgoing and people-friendly. But she kept trying to lay across my friend's feet and kept positioning herself between her and her brother. If he moved farther away, she would follow him. I thought maybe she was trying to protect my friend from her brother but she made no effort to protect me. :p

It was interesting but I'm not sure what to make of it. She never seemed overly worried about the guy but she something was definatly up.

Athena is 5 1/2 months now if that makes a difference.

Just when you think that you're getting somewhere they do something knew lol

Its possible that she didn't like the brother for whatever reason, and also didn't see him as a threat to YOU.

My friend is nervous around big dogs. She's always convinced they are going to eat her, so totally told her that Athena was protecting her even if it wasn't true. :)

Its possible Athena's aware of your friend's nerves and was either trying to soothe her or was trying to protect her from the percieved thread of the strange male

Hmmmm. Very interesting! I wonder if she was just keeping an eye on the new guy, just to make sure he was ok... Since you didn't see him as a threat, she didn't need to take action, but she wasn't going to let him get out of her sight, just in case! :)
