Update: Morgan's due date is this coming Monday. An x-ray was done yesterday and there are 5 confirmed puppies... which means I don't get one :(. I am fourth in line for deposits and the breeder is keeping two from this litter and that leaves me without one.

But...

I have been told that x-rays are often difficult to get an accurate count. I look at x-rays and MRIs for a living and my breeder sent me a copy of the x-ray, it is very difficult to tell what is going on, especially as there is a lot of gas and stool present in mom.

Also...

Morgan's daughter, Zara, was also bread to Xilo. She is equally as impressive a dog (although not as mature yet) with an excellent temperament and personality. In anticipation that there may be low numbers for this litter, the breeder has two unclaimed dogs from Zara's litter (just a week old now) and will roll over any potential deposits from Morgan to one of Zara's pups. The good news is, no matter what there will be a puppy for me and, either way, the puppy will be fantastic.

So kinda good news/bad news but ultimately I will still get a pup.

Count the spines. It's the only way to tell.
Of course, that's what we are doing. It is pretty difficult to tell though as she has a subtantial amount of gas and stool in her belly. I would post the picture here but not sure if that is cool with my breeder. The ultimate way to tell, of course, will be when the puppies are born on Monday. No more guessing at that point. :)

How exciting! No matter what litter the puppy comes from you will fall in love with it.

They determined the pups weren't quite ready yesterday so they moved the c-section to today at 2pm. Fingers crossed!

I just heard the great news this morning, there were 6 puppies born yesterday at 2pm, 4 girls and 2 boys! Mama and all pups are doing well. They are absolutely gorgeous, my family and I could not be more excited! Now we have about 8 weeks to prepare for the little one coming home.

I'll post some pictures through tapatalk in the next post.

I really would prefer a male (mostly because that is what I am used to), but my breeder matches dogs to families based on temperament, she has a veterinary behaviorist come in the week before they go home to match the dogs with families based on the best personality fit. Because of this she will not guarantee matching based on sex, color, or size. I knew this going in and if I end up with a female I will be just as elated.

Jesus they are big ones I can see why they opted for a C-Section. Did they give you any birth weights? BTW. 10 weeks is the preferred age for mastiff pups to leave mom. They tens to be better adjusted and socialize better if you give them more time with mom and the littermates.
