Looking to get a neapolitan mastiff puppy around February 2013. Does anyone know of a breeder in or around New England? Looking all over and can't find any close. I want to be able to see the farm that my puppy comes from. Will travel some distance but cannot travel across country.
Thanks!

I am getting a english/neo cross, they are all brindle, they will be ready to go home the last weekend of October. Mother is AKC English and dad is AKC Neopolitan. they are very reasonably priced. The breeder is a friend of mine, he is in Connecticut. I will have to ask his permision to post his info on here but let me know if you may be interested.

Define reasonably priced as these are essentially mutts, and while I have no issue with people adopting mixes I do have an issue with people profiting from breeding them without a purpose? Was this a planned litter? Were the parents health screened before breeding as these breeds are both prone to certain issues?

I am not certain what part you found offensive or untrue? They are mutts or mixes and like I said there is nothing wrong with that but as there are a lot of people on here that deal with placing rescues from people who think it is great to breed their pets together or who are looking to make a quick buck and wouldn't endorse purchasing from someone that is breeding these 2 breeds together without a purpose. Then they would also have to be doing the health testing that "reputable" breeders are doing as well as the temperament test. I asked a couple of questions which you don't have to answer but those are some of the basic things that responsible breeders do. There are several stories on here about the heart break people have endured when getting a pet from a less than reputable source and if we can prevent even one person from having to deal with that then I can take someone being a little put off by me.

Maybe I should have been more eloquent about how I put it.

Despite the fact that both of these dogs are AKC registered dogs, being bred together you get mixes (mutts). There are people that using the line well they are both mastiffs so are purebred which isn't the case... these are 2 different breeds and being bred together doesn't make purebred puppies. The term mutt isn't meant to be harsh or mean, there are lots of mixes/mutts that I have loved the look of. Mixes are not bad or substandard dogs they are simply a mix of 2 different breeds which were originally developed for a purpose, I think that there is probably a breed for just about any purpose today to not have to make more but if there is a purpose for the mix then I have no issue with it but they still need to be held to the same standards as "purebreds"

If this was an oops litter then I honestly hope that he is finding suitable homes and putting them out on spay/neuter contracts to as not continue a bad cycle.

In this case I said the definition of a good price is relative, as these dogs are purebred so what you might think is a good price might not be for others and sometimes in the end can cost more if you read some of the stories of people on here. Responsible breeders do health checks, dog shows/working, pick mates that compliment the dogs they are breeding. I asked if the parents had health screens for the same reason that anyone would ask of a breeder, while things can crop up in any litter having health checks done on the parents hopefully lesson the number of incidents.

In either case I do not agree with a profit being made from a mixed litter.

Just go to the pound or a Mastiff Rescue. You're guaranteed to get a Mastiff/Mix like you want and you're saving a life too. You also won't be getting had by some fool selling Neo/EM's.
