Maybe I should have been more eloquent about how I put it.
Despite the fact that both of these dogs are AKC registered dogs, being bred together you get mixes (mutts). There are people that using the line well they are both mastiffs so are purebred which isn't the case... these are 2 different breeds and being bred together doesn't make purebred puppies. The term mutt isn't meant to be harsh or mean, there are lots of mixes/mutts that I have loved the look of. Mixes are not bad or substandard dogs they are simply a mix of 2 different breeds which were originally developed for a purpose, I think that there is probably a breed for just about any purpose today to not have to make more but if there is a purpose for the mix then I have no issue with it but they still need to be held to the same standards as "purebreds"
If this was an oops litter then I honestly hope that he is finding suitable homes and putting them out on spay/neuter contracts to as not continue a bad cycle.
In this case I said the definition of a good price is relative, as these dogs are purebred so what you might think is a good price might not be for others and sometimes in the end can cost more if you read some of the stories of people on here. Responsible breeders do health checks, dog shows/working, pick mates that compliment the dogs they are breeding. I asked if the parents had health screens for the same reason that anyone would ask of a breeder, while things can crop up in any litter having health checks done on the parents hopefully lesson the number of incidents.
In either case I do not agree with a profit being made from a mixed litter.
