Hello my english mastiff Brutus just turned 1 yrs old. We have battled runny poos on and off since we got him at 8 weeks old. Tried many different foods along with probiatics to help reduce the problem. Puppy chow, Lamb and rice blend, and nutro large breed puppy food is what he has had so far. I hate changing his food. Now that he is 1 I am wondering if I should put him on a adult food. Wondering what recommendations are out there on what to try to reduce this problem.

Welcome. You can certainly put him on adult food now. I had problems finding a food that worked with Kryten also. I eventually discovered that if it had feathers while alive he cannot have it in kibble or treats. This means I have to check all the ingredents in any food or treat that I may want to give him as many use chicken or poultry fat as an ingredient. I know others on here have dogs that do not tolerate grains of any sort in their food. I would recommend finding a food that is chicken and grain free to try.

Welcome aboard and pics are necessary of your boy~ Yes, mastiffs are generally allergic to grains and chicken in dog food. Remember to do a slow transition to the new food or reset his system before trying new food. Feed him boiled white rice and boiled chicken, hamburger or turkey with pumpkin (not the pie filling) for 4-5 days before starting new food. Yes, they can be allergic to chicken in dog food but not fresh chicken. Although, some dogs can be allergic to fresh chicken.

Check out Acana Originals, Wellness Core or Earthborn grain and chicken free flavors.
