Noticing all the flowers today and Kahlua takes a turn at modeling

Today as I was in the yard I noticed a bunch of fresh buds and flowers on bushes that I had thought were just bushes. Flowers are popping up all over the place. I even got Kahlua to pose in front of one of the more impressive flowering bushes.

The tree in front of the house also suddenly has lots of tiny pink flowers on it.

The bush in the photo below has only one single bud. I am excited to see how the purple flowers turn out. I love purple.

Speaking of purpler there is this beautiful tree with little clusters of violet blossoms all over it.

And we also have a white flower covered tree.

Here Diesel is guarding us from a robin that dared to land in his yard briefly. He chased it off and is guarding the perimeter.

And of course there are more photos of model Kahlua because she is just so darn good at it.

And this is Kahlua’s favorite place to lay in the yard.

She also keeps hiding her balls in that. She thinks I dont notice but I do.

Your lilac colored flowers are lilacs. One of my most favorite springtime scents! Ours are going to be late coming this year, it's just starting to get nice enough for the trees to even think about getting leaves. Khalua is just precious! Diesel is a great guard dog.

Thanks for the info Jakesmum! I know nothing about plants and flowers. I did notice that they smelled amazing as I pass the tree. <3

Diesel is a very beautiful boy. He hates having his photo taken so it is always difficult to get him to stay still and look at the camera. He purposefully tries to ruin all photos I take of him. And he knows I am taking a picture even if I try to be sneaky or switch devices. If I have really good treats to bribe him he will allow it for a little bit.

By the way - question for anyone who looks. The photo of both dogs running above. Do they look like the are too skinny to you? Wondering if I should up their food intake a bit.

"Your lilac colored flowers are lilacs" - I was going to say the same thing!

The "bushes" are Rhododendrons... they are everywhere here in the Pacific NW, and brighten up springtime with their generous displays of flowers in all shades of the rainbow. Mine are just about to pop, now!

The ground cover is Vinca - you might have missed the awesome display of purple or blue flowers that puts on in early spring, too. I have that covering about 1/2 of my front yard, I love that stuff!

Yes I saw some purple flowers in that ground cover. People kept telling me the bushes were oleander or azelea and poisonous to my dogs. Glad to hear that they aren't. And the lilac smells amazing. The purple buds in one of my photos above just bloomed its first two flowers this morning also. Will try to add that flower shortly. I hear we are about to have a storm and the sky sure looks that way too. Very cloudy today.

I don't know. The Rhododendrons we have around here have tighter flower clusters than what I'm seeing with yours. They do look a bit like Oleander to me, but I'm definitely no expert. You might consult with a local nursery just to be sure. I was going to suggest that you call someone to take a look around the yard for you if you aren't plant savvy. Better safe than sorry.

Now that looks like a single Rhododendron and it does look like the rest will bloom into a cluster. Why are flower bushes so confusingly similar??

Kahlua knows she's adorable.
