I really like the picture of the obit of them charging something or going after the same ball / toy... their beautiful pups

I asked the vet if one level cup (given to me by the vet from some dog-food company) 3 times a day, when we eat, is enough for Coal, the black lab. She said, "That is plenty." I asked if I should be feeding Mr. Cheevers the mastiff more than I am now (2 heaping cups per meal 3 times a day when we eat) and she said, "Absolutely not. His ribs should show when he stands, and he is a good looking, fit, muscular dog. Perhaps this applies to your "best friends". Your dogs look fit and trim, the best way to look for a doggie !! I think Chev stuck his face in the inkwell at elementary school. too. Chev looks.jpg

Thanks! I can't believe that one came out as clear as it did. Catching the action shots is always the hardest because they typically always end up blurry

Your yard is beautiful! And you definitely have a knack for photography! Kaluha is very photogenic. And Diesel is such a good looking guy. His coat is so shiny and smooth.

He looks great, and very athletic. I wouldn‘t change his foods or the amount either. He‘s not genetically built like one of the 250lbs Mastiffs. How much does he weigh?

006.jpg Thanks, Tyler. Chev is about 145 lbs right now. He had his yearly checkup and so on a week ago. Yes, he is muscular and not "frumpy dumpy". He has his AKC papers and is a genuine mastiff, but I don't know if he is the so-termed "American mastiff" or not. He does seem a little different than so many, and he is not slinging drool around. He has a wet mouth at times like after drinking water, but he is pretty dry. Have a great day !!006.jpg

Awesome, he does look very healthy. The "American Mastiff" is typically a cross between the English Mastiff and Anatolian Shepherd, which is not recognized by the AKC. Most would call it a designer breed. As far as I know, the main objective was to create a Mastiff with a "dry mouth". I personally don‘t agree with this particular mix (nothing against mixed breeds in general).

Chev reminds me a bit of Buster. Buster was big, but not 250 big. He had a body type more like Chev's body type. Busters mother was an AKC fawn EM and her pregnancy was an "oops" They believe it was the neighbors pure bred GSD. I did think that Buster looked a lot like the " American Mastiffs". And he was very lazy most of the time and acted like a mastiff, but had a somewhat stronger drive.
He had a dry mouth as well, except while drinking. 2015-01-15_12.36.36.jpg

How old is Chev again? I remember it took awhile for Diesel to develop any drooling. But, even now he only drools when food is placed in front of him then it turns on like a facet. Recently he has also started dripping drool when he gets stressed out too. He creates lakes in those situations but dry mouth the rest of the time.

I am still waiting to see if Kahlua ever develops any drool (so far none not even at meal time). It surprises me that Kahlua doesn't drool at all yet because she is so much more jowly then Diesel. She just turned two though so at this point I am thinking she may not be a drooler.

Wow, April. Buster and Chev could be twins. Chev is 3 years old, as of January. He is AKC registered, and not an "opps" as far as I know. Thanks for your pic of Buster, a very handsome mastiff.

Thanks Pastor Dave, he was very handsome, and he is missed. Everytime I see a pic of Chev, I think of him. :)

Tell me, April....what was Buster's age when he passed away?? Also, for your comfort, our dogs will be in heaven according to those who know, the experts. Our heavenly Father will restore all that we loved. Jesus died to redeem "all of nature" according to scripture. I believe with all my heart that Buster and Chev will be chasing around, playing in heaven, a place not unlike this earth, but sooooo much better.....young, healthy, beautiful, forever and ever...........

Buster was 7 years old..
I do hope we will see them again. I know that there will be a new heaven and a new earth. And the lion will lay with the lamb. But I didn't know about past animals being redeemed. I hope your right. :)

Yes...a new earth, familiar to us, yet super super neat. We know from scriptures that there are horses, lions, and lambs there already. And as one author wrote, "I stood in the beautiful meadow of grasses and flowers, and "old Shep" came running to me...."I pray that my teachers were right, too. One textbook, and you could get this, is titled "Heaven" by Larry Alcorn. It is worth getting. There is a whole chapter devoted to pets, the little furry ones we love. Nice knowing you, April.
