Notification?

Is there a way that I can be notified when someone responds to a post I made or quotes me? If not it would be a nice feature. Just something that comes up under the notifications tab, not something being sent to my private email account... I think it would be nice, so I don't miss responses to questions, posts, etc.

To the right of the top of your post there is a thread tools drop down which has a subscribe to this thread option that offers several options for notifications.

Hmm I'm not sure. Maybe a mod will have a better idea?

I agree about it getting busy which is great but it does make it hard to keep up. I will often sort by new posts then just scroll through until I get to the threads that indicated I have posted then read those. You do miss a bunch though.

That's what I do too.

I'm in the middle of trying to cook dinner, but I thought I'd give this a quick shot at a suggestion. I've never subscribed or looked into it, until now.
Are you going about it through these tools?

They should be located on the upper right side of the first post in the thread you're wanting to subscribe to. There are a few choices in how you're notified as well. I have yet to test any of them because, well, I'm cooking. :) Let me know if that route doesn't work and I will look into a little further.

Me too, but I know I miss a lot...

I couldn't find a way to subscribe like I want to... I don't want to be notified EVERY time someone posts on the thread I've posted on, just if they've 'replied' to a post I made or quoted me...

Ok, digging a little more, and letting dinner burn ( :) ), I found something else.

I replied with a "test" response to this, but I don't think I'll get a email saying I responded. Only time will tell when someone else says something.

Worked for me when you replied Neo.. I might have more options though. I selected to email me when there was a response in this thread.

Ok, I see what you're looking for now, my missunderstanding. I will have to look for that specific thing in a little bit and get back with you.

After looking around for all the options, I don't think that'll be a possibility, Neo. There doesn't seem to be any way to get that specific. The best you'll be able to do is to recieve a notification that somone has responded to that thread. To be honest, I don't think that's TOO bad... At least you get to know. :)

Yeah I don't want it all going to my email though... I just thought it might be something the site owner could make/add, I don't know how stuff like that works though, or if that's even something they could do... I just know some sites have similar notifications...

Use the "What's New" tab at the top of the page. It keeps anything you haven't read in the past ten days "new"!
