I was wondering if anyone knew of a good training school for our puppy? I live near Edmonton. I will travel Sherwood Park, Leduc, Devon, Edmonton areas?

Thanks so much

You could also check with the clinics in your area, or your vet clinic. The SPCA or humane society might be able to recommend some trainers that have experience with large breeds in your area.

The problem with many SPCA referrals is that they tend to only do treat based positive reinforcement training, which is good and has it's place, but is not always the most efficient method of training a dominant working breed. I think a mix is required. The majority of SPCA's do not believe, support or condone the pack leader method of training which many dominant breeds require.
Just my 2 cents
I know here that some of the behaviorists at the Calgary SPCA still try to stare down a dog as part of the temperament test. Is fine with soft breeds but very few of the working breeds make it up for adoption.
