Pano

We have a case of pano!

Noticed it about 3 days ago now, conferred with his breeder, been to the vet, and he has pano!

He's reluctant to let anyone touch his paw for the moment and seems quite depressed, but he's not off his food which is a good sign.

Any tips on taking it easy with him? He's getting restless already!

Thanks,

Joe.

We just went thru this with our 6.5 month old EM. We made sure that he rested...no play time in the yard or walks of any kind. We decreased his food intake by 25% (per our breeder and folks here). It took about 2.5 weeks for it to improve. We happened to measure him and he grew 2 inches during that time. He no longer limps, but last night he wanted to favor his paw again. It's hard to watch your baby in pain especially when there's not much you can do. You can look up pattys pano recipe to feed as well. We didn't because I had a hard time finding some of the ingredients...maybe someone will chime in with the recipe or any tips with use. I rubbed oscars legs every day and tried to ice it (when he was sleeping and cared less haha)

So sorry to hear about your baby! Keep us updated

Some recommend aspirin. We used on Max when he was limping intermittently around Christmas. After about a week of 650mg twice a day with food, no more limping. Limited longer walks and running like an idiot in the back yard. I have no idea if it was pano but he was 10mos and no injury. Resolved before needing vet. Good luck with your pup. I read 5mg aspirin per pound of dog with a maximum of 10mg per pound. Please double check that with your vet though..I read it from a link listed on one of the forum pages.

Thanks everyone for the help, read these when they first came through and forgot to reply! Murphy is doing great now and is back to his old tricks. Will post a pic of him after this post because I haven't put one up of him in a while.

Low protein, I feed raw so I switched to strictly turkey breast and lowered her bone intake, you want to slow his growth a bit
