Why does it not work for you but it does work for me.

I put a space in between the previous word and the < and one after it. Maybe that's the key.

I just noticed at the very bottom of the page under "Posting Permissions" it says my HTML code is off. I betting that's the problem

On the test site I linked above it works either way
The codes are useless in advanced mode. You have to use them in your reply box on the bottom of the thread. If you go into advanced mode and preview your post, all is lost.

I will say the app seems to be way less frustrating and to function well.

I could be wrong, but I think in HTML, <p> means start a new paragraph, and </p> means end that paragraph. No idea whether it will post as I typed or just act as instructions....let's see...
