Pedigree name..?

In the process of registering my new puppy and was just wondering if anybody could share their insight about proper pedigree names. I know this would typically come from the breeder, but he didn't have a whole lot of input on this subject. Being that I do plan on starting my girl in OB and other sports, I do feel like it would be important to have a portion of her lineage in her name. I'm in the process of registering her with the UPPCC, and after I will be filing her registration papers with the UKC. With little to no help from the breeder regarding her lineage, I'm wondering if her name could possibly ever be changed once registered? From what I'm understanding after I send in registration to the UPPCC I'll recieve 3 generations of lineage. When I recieve this information, would it be proper to change the name? Or would that have to come with permission of the kennel/owner that the name was originally tied to?

USUALLY, the kennel name on the pup is the name of the breeder's kennel (which may not have anything to do with the kennel name of the parents, FYI). Before putting a different kennel name on your pup I would check with the owner of said kennel, as doing so potentially affects their reputation.

For example Apollo's breeder's kennel name is Himalaya, and his litter was produced out of a co-owned bitch, the co-owner is Saras kennel. So Apollo's official name is Saras Himalaya's Apollo.

MM and ruth - I've sent an email to the breeder just to ask about it. I'll also get in touch with the UKC. Thanks for the insight as always, it's appreciated!

Hope you get it figured out quickly!

Apollo's KC name is the same as his call name? How did that happen?

She let us choose his official name. We had to pick a name that started with A, and that wasn't already claimed by a littermate. I saw no reason to pick something fancy when "Apollo" worked just fine!

Thats what our breeder did as well. Just had to start with the letter of what litter it was.
