I see many mixed reviews online. Some people saying group puppy classes aren't good some are some say house training is better. So I thought id ask here first.

What do you guys recommend for a puppy. To help install a good bond and let him know who is boss and socialize with people and other dogs?

I agree. If they get nothing else out of the basic puppy school, at least the socialization was great.

puppy classes are sooo helpful for socialization, even though they may not learn commands they will learn to interact with other dogs appropriately. private classes are good for adult dogs who can't remain focused in a group class or if the handler really wants the one on one working the dog without distractions. Often times even with those dogs that are trained privately once they have completed the training the handlers will proof the training in a group class as well. For pups I strongly recommend group

When I got Ben he was 5 - 6 months old, which is older than recommended to start puppy classes, but I still took him and he gained so much in terms of socialisation and training, particularly in exposure to large, loud groups. I can't recommend them enough.

I think puppy classes are awesome for socializing and a foundation for training :)

I agree with puppy classes. My last dog I actually took to two different places at same time to classes. I know how to train a dog that not the issue, SOCIALIZING. Learn the rules of the pack and have some fun.
