Puppy teeth

I have a 5 1/2 month old mastiff mix that has lost most of his baby teeth except his canines he has retained the puppy tooth and the new tooth is there also. So my question is how long do I leave it that way to work its way out on its own before I consult a vet.

My puppy did the same thing. Puppies do lose their teeth and their teeth are not as strong as their adult teeth, HOWEVER, the danger with a tooth that is chipped is if the root/pulp is exposed, your dog could get an infection through that and it may go systemic. When my puppy's tooth chipped and I could see the inside (the core of the tooth), I took him to the vet to have it removed and they gave him some antibiotics as a pre-caution.
