Puppy Weight Question

Hello everyone, I have a 5 and half month old female EM and she hasn't been gaining weight at the rate that everyone else's EMs seem to be gaining. Right now, she's about 40lbs. We were raw feeding her about 2lbs of chicken meat and bones, vegetables and cow livers for about two months and then decided to switch to regular dog food to see if she would gain more weight. For the last month we've had her on Nature's Variety and have been giving her 4 cups of the stuff every day since that's the maximum amount recommended on the bag and it appears that she's filled out a little more but I can still see her ribs.

She's been wormed and we've even had her poop tested for worm about a month and a half after she got wormed to see if that's what's causing her to gain weight slowly and the test came back negative. Her vaccinations are up to date and the Vet said her health is fine every time we went to get her shots.

Basically, should I just feed her more or do some Mastiffs just take longer to grow?

Unless she has a health problem she is just growing at a slower rate have you talked to her breeder ? Your breeder could possibly give you some advise. 40 lbs does seem small but better to be healthy and small than unhealthy at any weight.

I agree, you should check with the breeder. As far as feeding goes, if she is finishing all the food, I would add in a little more until she starts leaving a little left over. Could be that 4 cups a day is not enough. My 10 week old pup is eating around 3 cups a day so 4 might not be enough. I think the best bet would be to touch base with the breeder and see what he/she has to say.
