puppy weight/size

My Lexie is 20 weeks and weighs right at 40 pounds. She isn't "skinny" and is filled out decently. She eats well and I do not restrict food. She is on Blue Buffalo lamb and rice food but will switch to a prescription urinary diet today for 3 months. She has a shiny coat, no ribs showing, etc, but based on sizes/weights posted here I am concerned that maybe she is small.
She has had a really bad time with infections since we got her at 8 weeks. (see my introduction post for details) so maybe finally getting over the hump on this infection will help her gain some weight? The vet thought she was at a good size/weight, but I just wanted to throw this out there for you guys. My vet doesn't see any other DDBs (we live in rural Louisiana) but I have been very impressed with her knowledge thus far.
Pics are attached to see body size as best I can (she is either full blast or asleep...hard to take good pics)

She may be on the smaller end of the spectrum but she sure does have some BIG paws :)

I wouldn't worry about her size too much, being healthy is all that matters. She still has a long way to go in terms of development. Our english bulldog was the runt of litter when he was born, but he grew up to be a larger than average bulldog. He also didn't fill out until he was 2 years old.

As long as her body condition is good I wouldn't worry about how she compares to other dogs. Most of the growth charts I see on here are for EMs and they will make any of the other breeds look little. She may speed up in growth once she is no longer fighting an infection, I saw this with Kryten after he was finally worm free.

Your girl is a good weight for her age and looks great.

She does seem small but she looks in good condition so don't worry about her weight my girl boerboel is 38.5 pounds at 14 weeks

Don't be concerned Size and weight are determined by genetics. I have owned 3 DDB, My largest was a beast at 8 weeks 22 lbs and is a monster now at 15 months is 140 pounds. he came from a large Dam and a average size male but lots of big dogs on both sides as you went generations back. he grew rapidly even on all stages food and restricted volume.

My new female is a small compact girl at 9 weeks is about 8 to 9 pounds and comes from large parents. i don't expect her to be more then 115 to 120 pounds at full maturity but will likely produce large dogs due to her genetics.

I always go by body condition as little puppies they are supposed to be roly poly . by the third month you should be concerned with body condition from the top down from the last rib to the hip should have a nice tuck. No ribs showing are the last barely visible is fine. but you do not want a obese 6 month old puppy , it is hard on the joints. They go through stages a lanky funny looking stage at about 6 months that can last a while . the first year the grow tall and the second year they fill out and develop more head . Many people say they don consider a DDB mature until 3 years of age.just keep an eye on body condition , and weight gain from time to time. if you see her going backwards for an extended period have her de wormed.
