Rottie Marks...

IMG_0481.jpg2013-03-12_11_49_17.jpgIMG_0483_2.jpg

Hi guys and gals, Im new to the forum and this and just have a few questions. I have seen in some forums online that colors like these comes out from mix breeding. Im not 100% sure if there might be some Rott in my pup, but I saw the dad and the mom, both are brindle color and look like corsos. Out of 7 pups two had tan. One sister had black and tan with black muzzle. My pup has the Rott marks with white on chest like the rest of the litter which were all black with white markings.. Just had his ear crop and I hope he looks good when he gets older. He is a very loving smart puppy and we love him so much, just very curious. Heres some pics of him, his litter, and the mom.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Those markings do come out in some pairings. They are a disqualifying fault in the standards, but they do not necessarily mean that the pup is not a purebred. However, that said pups with black and tan markings should not be bred as adults as they are not correct to the standard. He is a cute little guy, congrats and have fun with him!

Welcome to the board! The tan/black or tan/blue markings can come out in some pairings and there is always an arguement on whether those dogs come from pure lines or if something was mixed in. No one know except the people that were there so we deal with what is in front of us now but are always aware of what went on in the past. If he is a pet then I wouldn't be concerned as it isn't an issue unless he was to be a show dog/breeding dog as the standard considers the colours a fault.

Looks like a sweetie!

We had a rottie mix (added GSD and Pyranees, our best guesses) - LOVED those eyebrows, they can be so expressive. Can't wait to see how your cutie grows up!
