Size predictions?

I'd love to hear predictions from experienced EM owners of my boy's final weight. Lewis weighed in at 138 on his one year birthday a few weeks back. He is lean and healthy and stands just above 30 inches. His Dad is around 180 and mom is 160. Estimate away.

Typically parents are your predictors. I'd say he might end up somewhere in between his parents weight. :)

If I have learned anything about Mastiff's it is that you just never know. Oscar's mom is right that generally speaking the popular opinion is that they usually end up somewhere between the parents weight but while they are growing it is impossible to estimate what they may end up weighing. I have seen slow growing runts become very big dogs and fast growing big puppies end up smaller that the "norm". Rugers mom was 180 and his dad was 260 (Yes, he really was AND he was in awesome shape...Nice, trim, muscled, healthy boy). At one year, Ruger was 170.6 pounds and his last weigh in he was right at 240 pounds and 35 inches at the withers so he is not only a tall boy but a very heavy boned boy as well AND he is very "long". He will be 3 years old next month and is still gradually filling out but mostly done growing, I believe so I would say that he ended up his dads weight.

My Oden turned 1 yesterday. His is 190 as of a few weeks ago at the vet. But we worry about his size. He is on all large breed food and also gets 2 meals a day of 1 1/2 lbs of cooked and drained 90% lean hamburger and 1 1/2 cooked and drained chicken breast. Don't worry if he is not as big as others. He still has a long time to grow. Trust me you don't want the worry that comes with them being too big.

You can usually count on them growing to be somewhere in between mom and dad's sizes. However, that's not always the case. P's dad was 210 and her mom was around 150. P will be lucky if she hits 100 pounds. Sometimes, you just don't know. :)

And also throw into the equation, was mom and dad's weight, in good shape weight or couch potato over weight?:p

Sadie just turned 3. At her 1 year birthday she was 100 lbs. her mom was 150 and dad 185- ish. She weighed in at 160 last week on her 3rd birthday. Evert thing is a Gus's with these guys. I did not think Sadie would ever hit 150. I would guess your boy would be in the 180 range, maybe a little bit more.

Volka is not an EM he is a CAO so somewhat smaller than an EM . he was around 138 or 63 kg at one year. now he is 15 months and nearly 160 lbs and 32 inches.... i estimated his dad to be around 180 although the owner claims 200+ ..
so if your baby is 138 lbs at a year i would say since he is an EM he would probably grow till 3 years and more and will hit 170 at 2 years and 180 at 3 years if he is well muscled ... but you never know

My girl is 94lbs at 5 1/2. She is big for her age. She is gaining about 5lb a week. Oden was 66.4 at 4mo but jumped to 101.2 at 6mo. He is now 190 at a year.
