So many Mastiffs on Craigslist!

I can't believe how many purebred Mastiffs are on Craigslist. There's so many in my state that are listed, it's not even funny. I have seen ads where people sell or giveaway their Mastiffs for free and then a couple days or weeks later you see the person they gave the dog to advertising the dog on Craigslist again for a horrendous amount of money and the ad states something like "I can't afford this dog anymore", "my landlord said no pets allowed" or "I developed an allergy to the dog" or something stupid like that. Does anyone know of anyone who can save these Mastiffs? I'd just hate to see these dogs go to stupid people. I just thought that maybe since this is a Mastiff forum someone would know of someone who can take these dogs.

OMG the things they say! I got her because we thought she would be a lazy dog? WTH! Yeah mastiffs will lay around like a statue all day and only move when you tell them too? Or we don't have room for her. What did you think your mastiff would be a small dog? Geeze!

Pet flipping has become a problem too all because of CL. I hate it. People get a puppy "buy" it for $20 then turn around a few days later & sell the puppy for $40 because they bought it a 5 lb bag of ol Roy & a $2 toy so they have to make their money somewhere. It's pathetic

UUUGGGGHHHHHH!!!! What's sad is that most of these pups will end up with people who are not so nice or they end up as dog fighting bait.

I hate f***king people!

This is why when people holler at me when i'm walking my puppy on the OTHER side of the street "WHAT KIND OF DOG IS THAT!" (sometimes when we are all the way down the street...) I simply say rescue. Seems very suspicious and/or WAY to interested in the breed. Microchipping is a must.

There are quite a bit on the local classifieds here, too. I would say that 80% of all dogs 4 months and older are because the owner "does not have the time" or "needs more love than we can give". Sorry excuses.

I LOVE THIS - our local Kijiji here in Ontario ALWAYS has Mastiffs younger than 6 months up for sale because the owners are "moving", "having another baby", allllll this absolute rubbish that they knew they would have to deal with BEFORE they created such false hope for these puppies. Absolutely tragic, I can't wait until we're in a position give Dexter a brother/sister and rescue a pup!

True. I have had a few guys walk up to me and Mateo and ask flat out how much I paid for him. Or, "Wow- he must have cost a lot of money-- how much is he worth?". Really?!?!

I skirt the answer and say that he was a gift...

And microchipped- for sure.

I get irritated by all the "dog needs a country home" because apparently thwir is a plethora of country folk, looking for someones sub adult, untrained dog.....i live in the country...people offer me thwie "unwanted" pets quite frequently. I see the having a baby alot too.....put is 4 months old and wifebgf is due in 3 weeks..... you new she was pregnant when you got the dog...

Wow...I live in the area near where all these dogs are listed. This is so very sad. People are really disgusting. They bought a freakin mastiff! What did they expect? I really want to message them all really mean things, but I will resist. I wonder what their "re-homing" fees are? I'm sure they are trying to make money off these poor babies and don't even care who they go to. Sickening...

This is just so heart breaking and look at the toe nails on that last boy, the bull mastiff. Says he is 4 years old, Looks like it has been years since his nails were cut. It just brings tears to my eyes.
