I was sick this year and my garden went wild from lack of attention, but I did notice the odd sunflower coming up here and there and I let them be, enjoyed them when they bloomed and saved the heads for the birds. But, in corner above the one waterfall there were two that just kept growing and there were no heads. They grew and grew and grew AND, oh my, one is around 14 feet an the other around 12. My neighbour used my phone to take a picture from outside our fence.

The best part, when they finally started putting on heads...WOW...multiple heads. There are at least 8 on each. Only a few are open now, but I can hardly wait, until they are all open.
Thank you to the birds or squirrels that dropped the seeds...they are truly amazing.

Hi Glen, I once tried to grow massive pumpkins and was told by a farmer that people cheat at that...using sugar water with butterfly needles pushed into the vines. Who knows....my Atlantic Giants never grew to the size I suspected they would have, and I never took the time to try the sugar water infusion. Maybe it's a fable...maybe it's truth...who knows.

Pretty! I had some show up by the pond this year, but not nearly as tall as yours. I like sunflowers. They make me happy.
