TM's sensitivity to change in routine & new people

TM's sensitivity to change in routine & new people

So this week my dog walking service couldn't come today & tomorrow, so I had xbf's daughter do Tessa's mid day potty break. I went through the routine with her. Tessa has interacted with her numerous times, but I have always been present.

Tessa did go pee/poo during her mid day break, or so I am told.

When I came home today it was awful-Tessa had pooped in her crate, diarheaa, it was in her fur, through the crate-& on her breath UGH-just everywhere, up the wall... So I ad to remove & scrub down everything, & give Tessa a bath.

I did not have time to assess her behavior when I returned home because I needed to get her outside ASAP, & needed to leave her outside while I cleaned, then brought her in for her bath.

Was just about done with all of the scrubbing & Tessa was all nice & clean from her bath-but she's got diarheaa like crazy, & I've got to scrub all over again cuz it got on her feet.

She's never been this sick like this & she was 100% fine when I left for work at 8:25am...

She did play some after her bath.

There was a similar incident, but not near as bad, when my walker had the owner fill in for him a few weeks ago. I thought no one showed upo at all & called the owner--owner said it was him that came that day...
I think he just had her out for a quick potty & no walk or interaction & put her back in her crate, but I cannot prove it--just has Tessa's behavior to go by--she got sick then too.

I'm just at a loss--I'm stuck between either people LYING to me about what they are actually doing for my pooch's mid day break--or Tessa being so sensitive to change that she gets sick...

What can I do to curb the diarheaa now???

--she's eating & drinking fine & not lethargic.

Apollo stops eating, and yah sometimes gets diarrhea, when his schedule is screwed with.

Its possible they DID give her a walk, but because it wasn't done in the way she's used to she either didn't go as much as usual or it was different enough to screw with her system.

Could they have given her treats she's not used to?

If she's still having diarrhea problems you can give her pepto bismal or imodium, I'll dig out the dosage, or try canned pumpkin (JUST pureed pumpkin, NOT the pie filling).

Pepto: 1 tsp per 20lbs of dog, every 4-6hours, for up to 24hrs, if its still bad at that point contact a vet, if the dog shows any other signs of problems before 24hrs contact a vet

Imodium: DO NOT GIVE IMODIUM TO COLLIES, SHELTIES, AUSSIES, LONG HAIRED WHIPPETS OR ANY OTHER DOG SUSPECTED OF AN IVERMECTIN SENSITIVITY!!!!! For the rest of the dog world, in tablet form give 1mg per 20lbs of dog every 8 hours for up to 24, in liquid form give 1ml per pound of dog every 8 hours for up to 24. Like above if the diarrhea doesn't stop, or if the dog shows other symptoms of problems head for the vet!

(give one or the other, NOT BOTH!)

Not sure if it's just a TM thing. When my schedule radically changed for a week (getting up way early for a quick walk with Mateo, staying up late- sometimes all night, having a few strangers in and working with me...) in order to finish a high pressure, fast-deadline job...it just threw his system off, mostly his digestive tract (runs.)

And he actually likes novelty, meeting new people, ect. But this was so "off" from what normally happens in our little life, i believe it affected him in a stressful way.

So, yeah- it could be just a bit of stress on her...

well her schedule was not changed--only thing that was different is the person who did her potty break.

Tessa stayed in the yard-not a walk, I did not want her walking Tessa.
This girl was supposed to spend a 1/2 hour with her & play some fetch, make sure she went #1 & #2 & put her back in her crate.

Honestly, I'm thinking she just lied about doing the routine I asked her to do, I think she just let her out for a pee & put her back.

Tessa gives an "I will appease you pee" when she 1st goes outside...it's just a little trickle--
about a min or two later she does her FULL pee...which lasts much much longer.
My last girl did this too.
I think the last time this happened with Tessa, the dog service owner lied too-My walker had called off & I think he just did a quick 5 min in/out & Tessa didn't go potty...due to short notice.

There were a couple of days the leash did not move...
People lie, & animals can't talk.
-it makes a LOT more sense that "my dog is so sensitive no one else can let her out to potty"...

i'm pissed.

yes, I know. I have no idea how to do it though, i'm not very tech savvy & I'm broke.
People suck.

I could've taken her to doggy daycare, but due to her size she would have been put in with the adult large breeds.
There was so many dogs there, I just couldn't. Owner rushed through her behavioral assessment & did not want me to see it--made me suspicious. I'm not letting someone put my puppy in with 15-20 other pooches & not going to be present...
They finally allowed me to stand behind a fence & watch--they said it was due to liability-I do get that part.
They did offer to video tape it.
I suppose he was trying to find a solution for not having a walker for 2 days--but Tessa is way too young to be thrown in with 15-20 large breed and only 1 person & a video camera--wasn't enough supervision as far as I was concerned.
Plus the place smelled awful.

My sister's dog gets stress diarrhea... she goes the rice option... one meal of just rice, then rice + kibble, then back to kibble when all's better.

When we had our 190lb Rott/GSD/Pyrn, he did NOT like strangers coming to the house when he was home alone (good boy!!)... and we were adamant about introducing our dog walkers to him. Well... we were on vacation when our dog walker decided to let one of her employees take care of him (which was against our direct orders). I'm not sure how bright the new girl was. She made sure to write in his daily log what they did... but pretty much EVERY entry started with "he growled and 'smiled' at me when I walked in"... :slapme:

We quit that walking service and got our keys back asap. Don't be sending a STRANGER into my home!!! Especially with a very big, strong, guardian breed - that's VOCAL about not liking you! Duh!

We have a "mole" camera now, ~$200, but it will connect to your existing internet (wifi or wired, assuming you're not using dial-up...). The website you go to to view the camera images has a free option (limited, but plenty of viewing time for me, anyway). Very easy to setup and use. No tech savvy required.
