Urinating in water bowl?

Hey everyone,

Starting a few months ago, since we moved to our new house, every now and again, Murphy has urinated in his water bowl? I've just had a quick look online and it said that this may be him 'marking his territory', and his bowl is included in that, but to be honest, from the beginning, I've taught him that his bowls, his toys, his bones, and his bed are all mine. He always asks me before he goes to eat his dinner and he stays about 20 feet away from the bowl and doesn't move till I give him the cue. It's one of the first things I taught him and he's never slipped up once. He knows that his bowls 'belong' to me, so I don't know whether it's marking.

Is it just a male thing and nothing to worry about, or could it be something? He is currently 14 months if that helps. Could getting him a new set of bowls and placing them somewhere else be something to try?

Thanks,

Joe.

My puppy Sage used to pee on all the puppy beds in the house. Pulled the bed out of her crate and peed on it right in front of me. Guess what...we have one puppy bed in my office now and no others. Could be marking but I'm not sure. That's what I thought it was with my bundle of love.

Have him checked for a UTI ,sometimes animals do strange things to get our attention when something isn't right with them

Sounds like marking behavior to me, are there other dogs around?

There is a few dogs round here, mostly male and unfixed.

He's due for another vet visit soon so we'll mention it on our next trip.

Thanks for the help!
