  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

We had some unwanted visitors late last night!

Hello everyone,

Murphy has surpassed all of my expectations of his guarding/protecting capability and he stepped up to the mark last night and protected us from potential intruders at 03:00am in the morning!

At around 02:30am, my mum's boyfriend heard him barking, growling and crying downstairs, so he made his way down the stairs, bat in hand, to see to the dog and let him outside (he couldn't see through the reflection of the light on the window but hears these d*ckheads whistling), and Murphy makes his way out all guns blazing, snarling and runs toward the back wall where these possible thieves are making their way out of our garden, and then proceeds to almost climbing up the wall to catch them both! He went berserk!

Let's just say he won't be sleeping in the kitchen anymore, in case they're stupid enough to come back. He's been quite agitated today due to it, but he's currently asleep waiting for his dinner. I know it might of been a little taboo to let him out to scare them off, but obviously he knows he's done his job and I have every faith in him. He is a guardian breed after all! Luckily, too, we're moving out of here at the end of the month to a new house which is a bit bigger from him - he'll even have his own room! (Probs not but it is a five-bed.)

So proud of my boy!

What a good Murphy, doing his job protecting his family. Don't think those guys will come back to your house anytime soon.

Good boy Murphy!
You should get a steak for a reward.

He actually did get some steak the night after too, haha!

I think it's safe to say that he's definitely earnt his roaming privileges and he's had 2 nights of freedom with no destruction of the washing basket even though he's got a bit of a fetish for clothes hangers :lolbangtable:

Excellent! Give the big guy a hug from Bailey and me. It's amazing when our big puddles of love change instantly into our saving graces. They are as I have said before, amazing animals.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I honestly think that this happening, although quite cheesy, has brought us all closer to Murphy. I will definitely have another DDB as well - probably even two!

Great job Murphy.

Guardian breeds are always a surprise when they flip on the protection mode switch, and the 100 to 200lb puppy that is soft and would never hurt a fly, or run, shows everyone that he is no joke and will become a monster to defend his family.

Great job stepping up, Murphy! And I agree about these red-haired guardians...I would have two if I could!

Perfectly stated, and so true. Nothing better than a Mastiff in the house.

Yeah I hope to have 2 DDB and one of non-brachycephalic dream breeds: a GSD or an English Springer Spaniel

What those stupid lads must of seen when they were in our garden (excuse him & me, he's camera shy - he looks terrifying!):

Comes to something when you have to hold your dog's head up for a photograph, too!

I bet they pissed their pants. :)

What a good boy! I hope my Diesel turns out to be a good gaurdian too when he's older. And hopefully the intruders did pee their pants. Intruding is one thing, taunting your pup by whistling at him is even worse. Also love the pic. Murphy is just beautiful.

Awesome work Murphy!

My Barrett is great at making noise whenever anyone not on her "known" list I around the house. I don't live in the greatest of neighbourhoods so I sleep sounder knowing she's on the job. She's a complete goofball normally, but present her with someone she doesn't know in her territory... That includes her doggy daycare... Apparently she's better than a doorbell!

On a side note, Barrett woke me up just before a minor earthquake in our area last week. Has anyone else noticed that their dogs detect quakes before they hit? I'd never seen it before, but we don't have quakes here ever. Jus thought it was interesting...

Whoa, Barrett wins this one :razzberry: if there was ever an earthquake here (highly unlikely - in the UK), Murphy would sleep through it :lolbangtable:
