  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

We might have accidentally bought this puppy. :P

Don't worry, it wasn't really and accident.

Susie talked us into the female puppy. We are planning to get a male next year. We were always planning on two dogs but instead of a medium and large, we are getting a large and larger. o_O

I guess since the females are smaller, it will also give us some practice with the breed in a size we are used too. Our male GSD was about 120lbs. I'm planning on getting a trainer from Seattle Dogworks to come to the house to work with us and we also have a local puppy class starting in March.

We have a fence contractor coming out to install 6ft chain link fencing inside of the 5 ft cedar fence that runs around the back yard. I'm also putting a metal gate on the entrance to our mudroom. Anything else we might need to do to address containment issues? I want to make sure we have all of our ducks in a row before picking her up.

Yes. Tibetans. I've read that they are good jumpers and might eat wood fences. So.
Our GSDs weren't interested in escaping and they had a solid recall. Tibetans like to escape and only come back if they feel like it.
We don't plan on leaving them in the yard unattended, but all of the fencing surrounding our yard belongs to neighbors. I wanted to make sure we had a good fence and weren't relying on the neighbors keeping their fences mended. I'm sure they care less about our dogs than we do. ;)

LOL! So knew you wouldn't be able to resist her! No worries... you can just start a TM collection and be like some of the rest of us crazy people!

lol!!! Susie's good at that sorta thing, forgot to warn you.....

SO FAR, Apollo has shown no interest in going over our 6fter. I totally believe he's capable though....you may want to consider either concrete footers or some other sort of dig guard (ie: burying a length of chicken wire for a foot or so inside the fence while its attached to the base of the chainlink itself). Apollo has put some pretty decent holes under ours. We keep filling them with gravel, and he digs one next to the old one *sigh* but he's not out there without supervision so so far its ok.

Yeah, why not. I'm already working on a cat collection.
I found a sick, starving cat at the grocery store yesterday. Now she's living in my spare room until she's not contagious. I'm sure we'll wind up keeping her too. You know, because three cats wasn't enough. o_O

Poor thing was only 4lbs and has the worst URI I've ever seen. I thought she was dead when I first saw her.

Yeah, our breeder said one of his females likes to dig and he's had to put a chicken wire barrier along the ground to deter her. He's real excited to show us all the weird things he's had to do to keep his dogs on his property. :)

I want to try giving the dogs a designated digging area if they seem prone to digging. I'm sure they'll hate it but it's worth a shot.

good luck with the designated digging area lol. I keep threatening to teach Apollo to dig on command, I'd never need to pick up a shovel again!
