What age is presa canario puppy old enough to be a guard dog?

What age does a presa puppy become old enough to be left in the backyard. I'm asking as in when will he be territorial and distrustful of strangers? Because I don't want to leave him outside if he's able to be stolen.

I do not have an answer to your question I did, however, want to mention that if a person wants to steal your dog they will find a way to do it regardless of how much the dog guards. They can use tranquilizers and they can use the dog catcher's loop.

It's best to have a secured back yard. Some members have security cameras and electrical fences to keep unwanted persons out of their yards.

With today's new thing of dog flipping and the old thing, dog fighting, our breeds are good candidates.

I would ask how old is your pup? I assume it will have adequate shelter from the elements? And what happens if your presa doesn't turn out to be a guard dog? Then what?

This is true. I have heard of adults dogs being stolen like this. If somebody really wants your dog they will stop at nothing, trust me. Another option is getting another dog. With 2 dogs the chance of this happen are greatly reduced.

Never heard of those things, I mean like what age can he defend himself from getting stolen by simply picking him up by their hands and leaving

Never heard of what things? This all depends on his nature, it may be he never turns out to be a 'guard dog' and that he will always be open to thieves. There are plenty of ways people take dogs that don't include picking him up. You may like to consider that you protecting him should come before him protecting you.

Ok, maybe you just wanted a simple answer. There is no simple answer. Carma has never trusted strangers since I brought her home at 8 weeks. I have a 7 ft privacy fenced in yard. Carma is 7 months old and 72 pounds and I still won't let her stay out there for too long unsupervised. I probably won't until I get another CC. If you are just hell bent on leaving your pup outside I would have to say atleast a year and a half.

my 5 month old bitch is already a fierce defender of our property, she has been showing signs of protection from 10 weeks, she does come from out and out guarding heritage though, this is my first presa but wont be my last.
