What should I ask for for raw feed?

We have some slaughter houses here as well as smaller meat processing places what should I ask for when I call to get stuff from them? Organ meat trimmings or just whatever they have?

From the butcher I get:
-Pigs feet
-Pork bones
-Beef Liver
-Beef Kidney
-Mutton with bone
-Sawdust, I don't have any idea how they call this on English, I just translated from how its said in Spanish

one of my mates has a chicken farm and I get from him:
-egg
-necks
-Organs
Necks and Organs are incredible cheap.

My dogs staple meat is chicken quarters due to cost, its cheap. They also get pork shoulder & chicken liver. I would see what all they can sell to you/give you ... almost everything can be used :D

Well its proving to be harder to get due to FDA regulations. Most places are saying no.I do some hunting but not nearly enough to feed entirely raw.

That stinks!!

I asked the grocery stores around here if they could give/sell me their scrap meat or just about to expire/expired meats, all said they arent allowed to, :(

I found a Meat Supermarket though in town after google "butcher shops" & a bunch popped up. From them I get chicken quarters for $.64/lb & pork shoulder for $1.29/lb - best prices around in my area by far. Sometimes my grocery store has whole chickens on sale, best on those I got for $.89lb nice thing w/ those is there are some organs inside too.

Tell them you're buying for a dog and not for human consumption (both of you), it often makes a difference. The rules for human consumption are much stricter, but if you're going to take it right home and freeze it then it'll be fine even if its pushing the expiration date. Also with the slaughter houses, if you're buying for a dog they may have to treat it with activated charcol first, you can wash it off, they may require you to be a business to do it too (that may vary from area to area, but ASK, if the answer was no at first ask what would it take to do it).

As for what to get, pretty much anything they'll sell! Organs and green tripe are often things that are hard to get in other places, but honestly, whatever you can get from them will likely be cheaper than in the store.

OdeMX: for the "sawdust" possibly a ground up meat, or left over slurry of meat pieces?
