When to take away antler?

We have 2 currently, I think they are elk. One is flatter, like near the base I suppose? and the other is typical shape with a point. At what point should I worry about being able to swallow on accident? And follow up, what are some favorite online stores to get them?

If the thought even comes across your mind, it's probably time. Better safe than sorry. I took two away that were probably 4 inches left. I'm saving them for a little dog. Ebay has the best deals imo.

As soon as Denna starts chewing it like chewing gum - i.e. she can fit it in her mouth - I feel a need to remove it. Probably around that 4" mark.

I found some BIG ones at the local petshops... very expensive, but I get to pick the size and shape I want - and they last a long time around here, so I feel the expense is worth it.

One $30 antler lasts waaaaay longer than 3 $10 bully sticks!!
