  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Would you adopt a dog with known hip issues?

I did knowingly rescue an Australian Shepherd who had really bad hips. She actually walked on only 3 legs most of the time. I brought her home, gave her a couple of days to settle and then off to the vet we went. After x-rays and an exam, the vet said she would need both replaced at some point but it looked like she had a fracture that healed incorrectly in the really bad leg. Found out later that the original owner watched her get hit by a car and never took her to the vet. :(

Anyways, long story short..... I took her swimming and lots of short walks and after some time, she got the use of that leg back and stopped hobbling most of the time. She ended up passing away from cancer before her hips ever needed replacement but we likely would've paid the bill and had it done.

Well, we knew the minute we saw Tank walk that it was not going to be good. But we took him anyway. We have had a fair amount in bills, (Bad hips, both knees are blown- he is good at the moment with supplements, acupuncture and no intense running around like a madman) but he is a member of the family and truly I think he appreciates us and it is worth it. We also know his lifespan will likely not be as long as we would like, again...but we accept that and giving him a warm home, love and comfortable couches and beds to rest his weary joints means he will have the best and that is what these guys deserve after not having a great start in life.
