Yet another MORON story.

Well I've knocked off work early so popped for a beer in way home.
Bar man introduces me to a bloke at the bar with "here this guys got one the same". Turns out he means dogs.
Both bar man and random man proceed to tell me the story of how this guy is getting his bull mastiff (so not the same) PTS tomorrow. 18 month old.
I thinking oh shame it must be medical. Poor pup.

Nope. His bully has bitten his child.
Now this is not a good thing but I asked how it had happened and was he an aggressive dog?

"No no he's never been a bad dog. We heard a scream and came down from the loft to find kid bitten."

How do even start to question a bloke as to why he was in the loft and his young child was left alone with a teenaged mastiff? What a moron.
My kids know the rules. Yes and I bet they know the rules about ice cream but would break them if you weren't looking.
He told me he was surprised cos the kid could normally pull ears and tail and ride the dog so why would it bite.

It's bitten cos your kid was abusing it.
He said he never thought the dog would attack.

Trust me mate it still hasn't. It's nipped. An attack would make a lot more mess. A dog biting a kid is never a good thing but I can't help but think that poor puppy is loosing it's life because of its idiotic owner leaving it alone with a kid who's known to test the limits and has obviously never been taught any animal manners.

I agree and it happens constantly because irresponsible owners don't take care of their animals/kids. Poor pup. People like that shouldn't have kids or animals. Common sense and responsibility are required for both. It disgusts me.

But how do you tell a bloke with an injured kid and a death row dog that at the end of the day the fault is his? Not a task I wanted. I'm not the preachy type I just hope he doesn't try again with a new pup.

Well that's just depressing to hear, poor dog. But yea, unfortunately, some people have less brains than their dogs but the dog is the one that always pays the price in the end.

Dang. I hate stories like that!

... I might have suggested a rescue might be able to "rehabilitate" the pup (i.e. find him a responsible home).... but I'm guessing the bloke considers dogs more just a 'thing' you own versus and actual family member... :(
very sad.

well... deja vu. Most people think "kids will be kids" and they try to push the poor dog into accepting anything instead of educating their kids. I honestly think that if you can't prevent your kids from acting wild then you shouldn't own a dog.

Truthfully Lisa if I thought Max would even consider it I would have done.
But there's no way. And if I started thinking like that I'd need a MUCH bigger place.
