You get them a new bed...

I didn't want the girls to fight over the one bed anymore so I got another one and the first thing Sage does is pee/mark on it. So frustrating that she did this again.

Oh Bella tried to drag it to the old bed to chew on it but I stopped that in its tracks. I wish I could get Sage to stop marking.

Wash the bed and get the smell off it, then spray down with natures miracle.

When I had an intact adolescent male who started with the marking behaviour I got very vigilant and sternly (to say the least) corrected him when he even thought about marking. His body language made his intention clear; he'd sidle up to his target and his tail would go up. I also kept him leashed to me, or within sight, until he got the message that marking indoors was not OK.

Thanks for all the info. Sage is a girl, but I did keep her off the bed all last night so she knew it was my bed and did clean it with Nature's miracle. I'm hopeful I got the smell off.

It is the bed that goes in my office now

I agree the only thing you can do is watch her closely and stop her when she is considering it and take her outside. I haven't heard of many marking females but I knew there were a few out there.

I've had two bitches that marked, my current JRTx being one of them. She's never marked inside but she marks all over the boys pee outside. It's a combination of a regular squat but she also lifts one leg up. A previous Rottie bich did the exact same thing.

tmricciuto, you're sure its marking and not a uti or incontinence right?

Never done a side by side comparison of vinegar and Nature's Miracle but vinegar sure seems to neutralize urine odor, at least to my human nose (perhaps not to a dog's nose though.)

Yep I'm sure it's marking as she used to pee on the beds before and we got rid of all but one that stayed in my office and I sat on to claim it. She didn't ever mark on that one. She also hasn't had an accident in a month and had just been outside to pee when she came in and saw it. She walked right over to it and squatted. I made a loud noise and took her straight out when I saw it and then cleaned up the mess. When all was dry and she was in the house I sat on the bed and called her over and had a nice chat with her about how the bed is mine and not hers.

She and her sister are going through a phase where they each want what the other has and I'm certain she was letting Bella know that this new bed was hers.

I have a marking spayed female. She will even mark with poop. Thank goodness none of that crap indoors...otherwise I would go crazy because she likes to claim new beds by laying on them first and stay there all day...

Wow, that's crazy.

I've never seen a female do that. Except in heat.
