Ads in Forum Header?

Just last night I started seeing ads in the forum header. Is this something new? Is there a grace period before they show up? Can you become a paid member to get rid of them? Just curious.

Are you using a different browser? I don't get them at work because just about everything is blocked, I do get them at home though on a different browser (Firefox).

I only read the forum from my home pc; I think they're always been there. I don't mind them when they're dog related, but the other night they were all political ads for one Republican candidate; that irritates me. I come here to escape from that kind of junk.

That just started for me too Very annoying... It would be so much better if they could at least take up half the space.

NeoBull, do you use g-mail? I'm thinking this has something to do with their changes to their privacy policy since they are google ads and the timing of them showing up coincides. I've never worried too much about it because I don't really care who tracks where I go on the internet but this is just annoying. I won't quit coming but I won't read every thread anymore if I can't figure out how to manage that.

To be the site owners advocate, the ads are supposed to help pay for the site. Since I don't see a donation link, I think we're a little fortunate to have some place free to hang out. Just another way to look at it.
Who knows, someone here now or in the future MIGHT just be waiting for the Filipino dating club ad!

I don't mind some ads, but I can't even see the forum without scrolling down now (every time I refresh or go into a new forum or thread), and they weren't there a couple days ago...

LOL! Yeah, I'm glad it is here. I would gladly ante up to get rid of the ads. Some forums have that option which was why I asked. I only saw the dating club once, the rest are the dog stuff, except the big neon box for a credit report. Makes me wonder if google is using my browsing history to select my ads why did that come up? Hmmm. Only thing I can come up with is my personal trainer is a Philippino and I'm sure we have joked about it so I guess they're reading my mail. I hope it is good for them.

I'll have to remember that excuse when my wife asks about my ads. "Baby, I was looking for huge racks for, um, storing, uh, you know, like storing stuff... I have NOOO idea why those type of racks are showing up in the ads! Those are too big by the way, right?"

I'm updating the ads for members because of this thread.

They will be a lot less obtrusive.

As for paid memberships, I'm not sure if I want to start doing that just yet or not as I'm not sure what to offer for it. The ads are just there to help as much as possible.

I'm sure there will be memberships at a later date and multiple ways to get rid of the ads if they need to be a little more prominent again.

Thanks! My biggest problem was the size of the ads, they took up the whole top of the page so I could see ANYTHING without scrolling down.
