What is your dog food of choice - for those who feed kibble?

I just discovered that all of our local pet food stores are no longer carrying the food we worked painstakingly to find that Diesel likes and does well on. He has a host of allergies so we stick to limited ingredient kibbles (per the vets recommendation) and avoid all poultry or beef kibbles. We had one that worked and worked perfectly.
And now it is no longer an option.

Looking through the local pet stores there aren't a bunch available that meet our requirements
- not poultry
- not beef
- grain free
- limited ingredient

Right now I am leaning towards the limited ingredient from Canidae since it is available at PetCo.

There were a couple others I also discovered on my scouting mission that fit into our parameters:

Castor and Pollux, Drs Foster and Smith, Earthborn

I think there may have been one other but I can't think of it off the top of my head.

There was something about Canidae a while ago ... I can't remember what. Reformulation? Being sold? Something. Maybe do a search and see if everything looks okay to you. My personal choice from your list would be Earthborn. I really like their foods, but for some reason not all of my dogs did so I went with something I could feed to all of them -Nature's Domain. It's not limited ingredient though, so it's not an option for you. Good luck. I hate trying to find a new food.

I feed earthborn and it's the only kibble I have stuck with for a long time. Dogs do well on it transitioning on and off it has never been a problem.

Dozer's eating Taste of the Wild venison formula right now, but he also eats the salmon and bison formulas. I'm not sure if they are limited ingredient foods. I've also fed Earthborn Holistic grain-free salmon and bison formulas. He does well on either brand, but I have to order both of those online.

I feed Petcurean's Go. Kryten can't have any form of bird, pork is iffy and fish increases the smell of his emissions. They have a venison formula that works great for him. I've also had success with Acana and Orijen.

Check out the signature line available on chewy.com. I know an allergy riddled shepherd that does well on signature kangaroo.

Tony was a troublesome dog when it came to food... it was hard to find one that he actually liked (ate willingly - not waiting until he was starving) and that didn't give him the runs. I finally found Earthborn Holistics Costal Catch and it worked well for him and he was on it for almost 2 years, then they discontinued to sell it in any pet stores here, so I had to switch him cold turkey to a new food.

Now I feed him Canisourse Grand Cru (Fish), which is a dehydrated raw food (kibble form). He loves it and does really well on it. I switched him from the fish to the beef at one point (cause they beef was odourless compared to the fish) but he couldn't do the beef, so back to the fish.

Thanks for all of the advice and Hector thanks for t he chewy.com link. It looks like their prices for auto ship are comparable to the pet store prices so we may end up going that route. Oddly enough the kangaroo you recommended is restricted in California so no kangaroo for us but that same brand does have a salmon/trout formula which gets a 4.5 star rating on the pet food advisor site so that looks like a promising option.

We were feeding Nature's Recipe Pure essentials and alternating between the limited ingredients lamb recipe and the limited ingredients salmon recipe. Diesel seemed to prefer the salmon recipe. I really loved that Nature's Recipe Pure essentials had cranberry pieces and peas in it. I'm not sure if any of the other brands have actual cranberries and peas in them though.

Did you try with acana or orijen? They are quality food with single protein ,they have fish editions were you dont have any protein except fish, and also have cranberries and peas. Look in to it you should be able to buy it in US as they have opened new factory in kentucky i think.

The pet store we used to go to in our area didn't carry those ones. I think the PetCo near us may carry orijen... not sure if they have acana. I will have to double check :)

Orijen is known to be little better than acana but both are very good maybe even the best foods out there. Orijen has a line called six fish, i have read that many dogs who had allergies have reborn again on that food. Its loaded with only fish protein with 80% meat which comes from six species of fish. There is a little down side ,its very expensive and someone with big dog will need two big bags a month and one big bag of six fish in my country costs around 140 euros and that is the most expensive food that you can buy here so its all up to you :)

We used Acana for years. Originally, my only complaint was the kibble size. Then they opened up a US factory and the quality went downhill. Almost immediately I noticed a difference in the quality of their food. My boy had to eat much more to get his fill. We're free feeders. A bag of food that easily lasted two weeks now only lasted 10days if that. Not to mention too many small broken pieces of kibble. We use Chewy.com as well. I left a bad review and they refunded me the price of my last bag . I tried Fromm I think its called. I wasn't impressed at all. We're currently using this stuff call "Now Fresh". It's OK. It has notably larger kibble size. But there are a lot of broken pieces as well. I think I may start looking again. I don't mind paying a premium for high quality food for my boy. But I expect high quality with that premium price...

Hi Dennis - Interesting. I hate when they change manufacturing and quality goes down. Thanks for the input. I really wish I could keep using the old food but not even chewy.com carries it.

Taste of the Wild I read a while back was great. San Rocco CC said they used it in a video a while back, but I saw this video recently, and they seem to have switched (linked below) and is now using Life's Abundance Grain Free food.
I really like Natural Balance Dog Food - It is A Limited ingredient formula and the type of food you get (i.e.: salmon, venison, chicken) is usually the FIRST ingredient, and the only word (IE: Chicken, Salmon, and not anything else attached to the word.) And Pet-Co. sells Nat. Balance as well I believe.

I'd recommend trying a Salmon or Venison Formula.

What food were you feeding?
We were feeding Nature's Recipe Pure Essentials - limited ingredient usually the Salmon because Diesel prefers that one but sometimes the Lamb if they were out of Salmon. He did well on both flavors from them.
