5 week old make presa, weighs 4 lbs? is this about normal

hello , I'm new here myself and a new Presa owner , i have a 5 week old (tomorrow) presa male pup, , he currently weighs in at just under 4 lbs , and seems to be gaining about a 1/2 lb a day (was 3 lbs on sat) ...
he has such sharp lil claws , , is currently cutting his teeth , i got him at way to early of a age.. (2 n 1/2 weeks old, i bottle fed him formula for 3 days then started mush a mixture of large breed naturals puppy kibble softened by stage 2 formula, he's quite the active lil guy , was just wondering if his weight at 4 lbs is about normal/

1/2 lb per day is what Denna (EM) was gaining during the 2-10 month range, so I'd say that's on track... I'm sure he'll get to where he needs to go.
Sounds like he hit the jackpot with a great home!

Mine was a little under 15lbs at 8 weeks, he's 3/4 presa 1/4 pitbull. I got him at 8 weeks from the time i got him until he was about a year he gained 10-12lbs a month. Hes almost 2 and weighs 120lbs now.

i am sure by the way you are feeding him and his current weight gains, he will catch up soon, 1/2 lb a day is a lot of gains! as a cute story, i know of a CAO breeder who got a litter of 6 and one of them was very small the smallest one and the weakest one of the litter, he was called MOUFTAH ( meaning a KEY that is a locker key after translation to english) he was just a mistake of nature. this dog was given as a gift...... after 3 years The "KEY" turned out to be 180 lbs! as big as his father

Crikey BFN, you have taken on a real challenge and seem to be succeeding very nicely! If you don't mind my asking, what happened to Mum? It sounds to me as if he is gaining weight at a good rate, and the fact that he is quite active is a good sign. I think your biggest challenge may be teaching him bite inhibition. He is totes adorable!

My BFN is now 10 weeks old and weighing in at 24.4 lbs, doing awesome such a smart lil guy ,he's now house trained ,and beginning leash training and socialization, now he hAs all shots ,we begin kindergarten n 2 weeks ....he does love to chew but learned quick not on us by me just sayin ow,....thank you all he truly is my blessing , he does love to pester my 2 ol gals (both 9 , a GSD, N A pitty....they help also ....
