Anal glands

New to the forum I have 5 month old cane corso and just wanted to know if anyone else how's issues with their dogs anal glands. I had to express his the other day. I researched and found the fishy smell was coming from his anal glands. Was not very difficult to do but my pup was not very cooperative for obvious reasons. I did the external expression. How often do you do you do it if your dog needs for it to happen. My dog does have solid movements.

When my JC was alive, I had to take him every six weeks. When he was young, I never had issues. As he got older, that's when I started taking him to the vet for his anal glands.

We feed a raw diet to our Corsos and we include feather and rabbit fur to the diet occasionally. The feather/fur naturally expesses the glands and keeps them clean. No issues.
