Backpacks

I did my research here and saw another thread about backpacks, but it's a year old so I thought I would bring it up again.

Any members have backpacks that they swear by? Pictures would be appreciated! :)

We have on, roughwear, I think... our Dane/Lab mix liked to wear it (he got to carry groceries home for me a few times), but apparently, I never took a picture of him wearing it.

I'll have to break it out and see if it will fit Denna... she's already 25% bigger than he ever got. :)
But, it was a little too big for him, anyway.

he one that I have and love isn't made any longer- the Kelty Chuckwagon. I had gotten it originally for my 85lb boxer, but it also fits my DdB nicely.

Trailspace has some great reviews on different packs (and also compares pricing as well) http://www.trailspace.com/gear/dog-gear/

Are you trying to make him carry your alcohol?

hah! I don't think Kujo would appreciate me getting trashed on our walks ;)

Thanks everyone! I decided on the Kyjen Outward Hound Backpack....I'll make sure to post pics once it arrives :)

We use the Ruffwear as well. We've had it for five years and it's still going strong!

(Someone once asked me if my dog was running away from home. I said, "yes," but she's not allowed to cross the street by herself so I had to come along. HA HA HA HA!)

I have thought about taking my guy hiking and using a backpack for him to carry his own water. I don't know if he is just young or what, but he sure doesn't walk very far.

My pup is only 12 weeks. He flat out refuses to walk much further than around the corner. I am aware that the younguns shouldnt be overly active.

Has it be extra hot in UT? Titan will refuse to walk if it's in the 90's and 100's, I don't blame it.

It hasn't gotten to the 90's yet..... Heck, I don't even like to go out when its that hot. He is just a lazy pup, hopefully he will want to walk a little bit, but I am not expecting he will want to go on any hikes with me. Maybe I need an Austrailian Shephard.

My EM didn't really want to go out for walks until he was about 6 months. Prior to that all he really wanted to do was sleep and eat. I had planned on getting a backpack for him this year since he now loves to go hiking.

Thats good to hear he loves to go hiking. I have climbed the highest peak in each county in Utah, and would never expect Percy to tag along on some of them, but a nice hike along some of the many trails we have in the area would be wonderful.

This year, I probably wont take him to the foothills because the rattlesnakes are supposed to be very plentiful, but a nice walk along the river trail would be good.
