I just purchased a 6 week old cane corso (picking him up in two weeks) and was wondering what the best kibble would be? Is a kibble higher in protein and fat needed?
The breeder I purchased him from feeds all her puppys and adults diamond hi energy but I seen the ingedients and didnt like them as well as read some bad things. Thanks for the info guys.

A lot will depend on what is available in your area. I would contact your pet food suppliers or feed stores in your area and see what they carry as that will help narrow down the search based on what is readily available and then you can narrow it down by cost if that is an issue. There are some good foods in the mid-price range and there are some great ones in the expensive range but if they aren't available in your area they aren't going to be much good for you. :) If you get the list then come back and let us know what is available for you and our resident food guru can help out :)

PS Congrats on your new addition!

You can go on Dog Food Advisor.com and see where this brand ranks compared to others. Keep in mind most mastiffs do best on grain free and and many have problems with chicken. The calcium and phosphorus ratios are the most important to ensure a slow and steady growth. You don't need to feed puppy food either...go with an All life stages. You can do a search on this site and you will finds loads of info on food. I feed Earthborn Holistic - Meadow Feast. Good luck with your pup!

Can't give you an opinion as I don't think it is available in Canada. At least it wasn't a few years ago :)

Orijen actually looks like the best choice. Its grain free and scored a perfect score on dogfoodadvisor. Any exp with this Black since its made in Canada?

I feed Acana Pacifica and Wild prairie. Never heard of the food you mentioned :)

Ill check Wild Prairie out. I think Acana is the same company that makes Orijen which looks very very good.

It is one of the best foods out there but sometimes can be a little rich for puppies to handle. But you can always try and see if your puppy does well on it. Acana we have fed several of the Varieties of and have always had good success with them. They are the same company that makes Orijen but are a little cheaper.

I would go with Acana over Orijen. Same company, same quality of ingredients but lower protein.
Our dogs all do very well on the Grasslands.

I actually ended up going with Merrick. From what I see i has the same ingredients as acana. I got the grain free version.
