I make lots of "bone broth"... aka "stock". I toss veggie scraps and some grass-fed lamb bones in the crock pot about once a month and let it cook for a good 36-48 hours. I then strain and freeze the broth in ice cube trays and use it in all sorts of stuff... stir fry, sauces, pasta, liquid in the Instant Pot for roasts, etc.
I used to make the stock for the dog and I to share - now the stock is just for us humans, and the dog gets "tendon soup". It's basically bone broth made with cow feet and some different spices. My PT vet gave me the recipe as a joint & tendon supplement. Denna tore her CCL in 2016, and is still doing physical therapy to maintain balance and flexibility. Denna LOVES her Tendon Soup ice cubes (she gets 2 cubes / 2oz with every meal). Her knee is doing great, so, maybe it's helping that, too!
