We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Bullmastiff owners what do you feed your dog?

Just back from the vets. They did an X-ray and full blood work up including thyroid. Blood results won't be in until tomorrow- X-ray showed no signs of blockage but he could see the breakfast meal undigested and just sitting in the stomach (he had breakfast around 8a and the X-ray was taken around 3pm). That made him suggest the issue could be gastroparesis as already suggested by Pippathemastiff. Along those lines they gave him a shot of cerenia to get things moving and prescribed a pill version to be taken once a day for 4 days. Really hoping this works... blood results will be in tomorrow so hopefully we'll know more then. Thank you for all of the replies and help everyone.
Glad they are continuing to search. If he is still eating something and passing stool it is probably not a blockage but the small rubber toy Emma ate was very difficult to see on xray which is why it was missed at the ER doc. Best of luck, hope he is feeling better soon!

My 5 year old boy has been on blue buffalo lamb and potatoe for about 2 years but recently he started throwing up during the night 2a-3a (chunks, not foam or bile) and sometimes during the day 2p-3p. The vet believes it is due to food allergies. He suggested duck or salmon based sensitive stomach and added he preferred the brands royal cabin or hills... problem is so far as I can tell these brands don't have a duck or salmon based sensitive stomach blend (chicken only). Because I couldn't find what he suggested, I switched to blue buffalo duck and potatoe about a week ago but the throwing up hasn't stopped! Just wondering if anyone has had similar issues with their bullmastiff and interested in what diets have worked for you.

For reference, we feed him around 7am and around 5pm each day from an elevated bowl. The throwing up happens probably about 3 out of every 4 days and has been going on for nearly a month. Any help would be most appreciated.

My boy, is half Bullmastiff half Boerboel mastiff.

I feed him Acana Large Puppy food (he's five and a half months old). My other two furry kids, are on Acana as well. Good food, different options available. Check it out.

Hope they find out what's bothering your boy.

Glad you ruled out a blockage! That's always one of my fears.
Hopefully some good meds will get things operating smoothly again.

I'd look at some good probiotic and enzymatic supplements - check with the vet if you're still on meds, though - to help with digestion.

I like the "Now Fresh" foods for kibble - you can get chicken free versions (something I look for). Made in Canada. That, or one of the Orijen or Acana limited ingredient varieties might be a good option. Blue Buffalo has had some recent recalls, that might make me suspicious. One was for mold... that might cause some intestinal issues... hopefully nothing that won't resolve with love, care, and time.

Just thought I'd report back even though its been awhile- my poor boy was throwing up due to stomach cancer and had to be put down in March. Hardest thing I ever had to do. He was only 5. Vets had me switching foods and considering food allergy issues until it was to late. Anyway, sorry to be a downer but figured I' d update in case there's anyone else out there that's looking at similar problems. Cancer hadn't even been mentioned and by the time it was diagnosed via biopsy it was to late.
