crate size

I posted this in my "New to forum" post but haven't received any replies. Just arrived today. A friend of mine has a CC and a BM and he
rerecommended this size of crate. Looking at the box it says "up to
70lbs". Before I $#@!emble it I want to make sure this will be big enough for her or should I return it for the large 42" X 28" x 31" crate.

It depends on how long you plan to use the crate. If it's just for housebreaking and puppy chewing the smaller crate should be ok. But if you want to leave it set up and use it with an adult dog I would recommend a larger crate. My EM outgrew the door height of the 31" at around 9 months old. Bigger breed but it was a bigger crate too.

I would like to use the crate for her when she is an adult as well. Forgot to mention she is a CC/BM mix.

I use a x-pen that I converted cheaply into a crate (top and bottom attached). I have a Dane though so not sure if that is overkill. It is a 4' x 4' square. It takes up 1/4 of my office but I would rather that then chewed furniture!

Denna outgrew her puppy crate by 8 months, and THEN started needing one when we were away from home...
We got her the 54" CONDO crate... She was comfortable in that, and still would be if she needed it - SO glad she doesn't! It took up half of our living room. :)

Here's a link to a 54": MidWest Solutions Series XX-Large Heavy Duty Double Door Dog Crate, XX-Large, 54-in

We use this same crate! We had a smaller borrowed crate when our EM came home. He loves his big boy crate and has been in it since he was 4.5 months old. It was the only one we found that would fit his supposed future height :)
