Different Types of Proteins

We have successfully switched out little 12 week old EM to raw food over the past 3 weeks. Right now, he is only getting chicken based foods and we are planning to keep it that way for the next few weeks to make sure he has adjusted to his new diet.

I want to start switching things up and mix in a little different types of meat so he can get a wider range of proteins. With our Shiloh Shepard, we have been giving her mostly chicken meat and adding in some beef, rabbit, or turkey into her diet a few times a week.

Would this same approach work well for a growing EM ?

12 weeks is really young, at that age nobody screwed up his stomach with kibble jet, so you can do a good variety of mixing right away. Dont know how your view on the fruit & veggies is, but you can introduce this also right away in variety. I did so with mine, now he eats everything, and people are amazed when they see he is fetching a ball for pieces of oranges or strawberries:)

I agree that the young ones have an easier time transitioning. I come from the school of thought that dogs don't need fruit or veggies and I don't make it part of their meal plan. However, mine get veggies off my plate or when I'm cooking dinner.

As soon as you get good solid poop for a couple of days I would try mixing in a little bit of a new protein with the chicken. If that goes well then add more of the new protein if you have runny poop go back to all chicken. Try again in a couple of days.
