I am really glad to see this thread as I have been giving some serious thought to getting a Dogue. In the next couple of years I hope to be able to do so. This gives me a great head start!

One thing I would ask any breeder "what's the average lifespan of dogues you have bred" there are a lot of dogues from reputable breeders/lines that don't make it past 5 or 6 years years. While I know much is environmental considering most reputable breeders sell to people who care for their dogs I think you can get a pretty good idea on longevity. In my recent search I noticed many times that a discussion of how old champion so and so was when he passed rarely comes up you have to ask and then ask what they died of. I would also look into rescue first. With a rescue you can have a good idea as to temperament from the get go with a puppy you don't know what you have until they grow up. Just because dogs are raised together doesn't mean they will get along as adults and while you may get get lucky and your puppy doesn't grow to have a prey drive towards your smaller pets I have seen the opposite happen as well. ex: dog is raised with cats but as adult prey drive kicks in and he goes after cats even those he was raised with. I can tell you that some dogues do indeed have high prey drive and many do not like other dogs same sex or opposite sex to some it doesn't matter.
Dogues are wonderful I truly love this breed and had my first one over 20years ago they have a personality second to none while some nowadays are big softies there are many more that aren't I would not consider this breed easy to deal with at times they have some issues health wise and sometimes temperament wise that many are unprepared for.

Very nice little intro to the website @ Chad Anderson, great looking dogs. Wasn't the dog in Turner & Hooch a DDB? That was the very first movie I ever saw at a movie theater as a kid.

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and was hoping to get some information. I've been researching the
Dogue de Bordeaux for about six months and im finally ready to get a puppy. I have a five year old
French Bulldog a wife and two kids. I'm not looking to breed or show the DDB, but I want a show quality DDB. I live in North Florida and I'm looking for a reputable breeder in Florida, Georgia, North Carloina or South Carolina. I've been looking at "Stout Dogue de Bordeaux" and "Red Bear Bordeaux" out of Miami
area and "Van Valkenberg Bordeaux" out of North Georgia. Does anyone know anything about these
breeders or know of another reputable breeder? Also what should I look for when buying one of these puppies? Thanks
