We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Don't get a Boerboel puppy.

I really hate to even say this but after recently seeing the lists of abandoned and returned Boerboels (BBs or SABs) that need rescuing. I just want to say to first time mastiff shoppers please consider what you are doing do the research or get a different dog. BB puppies are so damned cute that people just see one and get that compulsion to get it. But they have no clue as to how big and powerful these dogs can get and mean if just left on a chain or in a kennel with little socialization. Boerboels are a social mastiff and require interaction to properly develop a stable temperament. Maybe consider rescuing one instead of buying a pup. OK sorry my rant and 3.5 cents. Fire away!

I've only seen one in my area. Owner seemed to be doing the best interest. I think she had him for five years but her job starting requiring more travel. He was very handsome.......

I am member of a few SAB (BB) boards on FaceBook and American Boerboel Club reports 2 to 3 needing rescue PER DAY! It breaks my heart that I can't even take even one in right now let alone can't have 10!

The one i seen was a georgous dog, owner didnt say anything except that he was for sell.. kind of concerning.. if i didnt have kids i might have thought about it. Its just not worth the risk, i have to know the temperment and background of any dog i bring into my home around my babies..

I see a lot of Mastiff's in general on Kijiji when they hit about year. It makes me so sad. Why don't people do their research?!?!?!

Ya, lots of "One year old mastiff needs to be rehomed, great dog but doesn't fit our life style" type ads. Pisses me off to no end. If your getting a living creature of any kind do your damn research and make your commitment. I myself have really wanted a tortoise for ever but have kept it as a pipe dream as I know I cant commit to an animal thats going to out live me by a decades.

Ya, without going into detail I am 31 and my life expectancy is likely 50-55 years old give or take so for me I would need to put a pet like a tortoise in a will and I dont know anybody that I would want to saddle that with and I dont wanna have one that gets surrendered to a rescue. No really fair to them. Be warned to if you are thinking of getting one, depending on the type you get some get to be 400 pounds plus and can be destructive. There is a guy locally that has one that had to put plywood up all along the bottom 3 feet of his wall in the house where his tortoise goes because he would pull his head into his shell then ram the wall over and over until he broke through, then he would work on the studs and eventually get through in the span of less than a work day. Sounds hilarious and it is but its also destructive.

That is funny, wouldnt be funny if it was my house but funny. I forget which one we were looki g at but supposed to get around 15-20lbs. I refuse to buy an animal from a chain pet store or really any and dont have the slightest idea on how to find a reputable turtoise breeder lol..

that is sad that alot of people get rid of their dogs like that ...they dont realize the strength...but sometimes they do find good homes ...so that is on the plus side ..i would like to find a mastiff or another large breed dog to play with duke and be a new member of our family ..poor duke he has resorted to trying to play with my 4 lb yorkie ...lol i would like for him to have a his size friend too

a nice spayed female is available out here on CL...reason is moving to new home with no yard...she has been raised w/family/kids in home......person also has a nice Bullmastiff for 500.....thinkin' he's close to three yr's old......the two are buddies and best to keep together, but we all know thats doubtful......
