Doubull Mastiff..... Anybody?

Hi guys,
My Fiance' and I have just purchased a pup. The father is an English Mastiff and Mother is a Bullmastiff (both very calm dogs) I'm curious to know if anyone on this forum has any knowledge about them. Any info you could provide would be great. Thanks guys!

Hi and Welcome!

We have a 16 week Doubull Mastiff and an 8 month English Mastiff (same father). How old is your puppy and I would love to see pictures. I have a few on here (cheerio's, baking day and counter surfing where you can see ours. She is the "little" one.

Thanks for the welcome! Our pup is 6 weeks old and we dont get to bring him home for another 3weeks. Was curious about the size he'll grow to be. We were originally wanting a English Mastiff, but we found this guy and couldn't walk away lol, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll get to be over 140lbs when he's full grown.

I love his face! It would depend on the size of mom and dad but 140 doesn't sound unreasonable. Ren is already 38 pounds at 16 weeks and like you dad is English and mom is Bull. She has way more energy than our English (LOL - WAY more!!!!) did at that age, but is still really easy as puppies go. When she isn't playing she loves to snuggle. Don't hesistate to ask or PM me if you have any questions. I know that when we first got Stonewall I think I made everyone crazy with all my questions, even with all the research I had done, and there really isn't a lot of information out there on Doubulls so happy to share as I learn myself!

Thanks so much for your willingness to share... I have done a tonne of research on mastiffs but like u say, there isnt much info out there for the doubulls. Lol, I was wondering if there'd be much of a difference as far as energy levels went. Can't wait to bring our little guy home!! :)

- just checked out the "cheerio" pics.... Two gorgeous dogs u've got there Stephanieb!

HUGE difference between our 2, but that being said compared to a say a lab puppy she's really mellow. And because they grown so much she sleeps a lot. When the crazies hit it lasts about half an hour???? And then they have to sleep for a few hours. She barks more than he does but only when she is playing so again, really not a barker. Stonewall is very passive and Ren is a lot more in your face. There are days I have gone OMG!?!?!?! What was I thinking but then I think back to the days when we had a lab/rottie cross pup and realize that I have 2 under a year and life is still considerably calmer than it was with just one.

The few pieces of advice I would give you that for me have been critical are a. make the vet your dogs best friend!!!!! b. expose your puppy to everything and everyone you can and c. work on manners from day one. While I can still physically make Ren do what I want at 4 months, I wouldn't have a prayer forcing Stonewall to do anything at this point and am incredibly grateful that we spent so much time working on manners early on. He still has things to work on but the basics are there and makes life a lot easier.

Sorry for the ramble. :)

Lol, no worries about the ramble.... We plan to focus on manners and socialization from day one so there'll be no suprises later down the road. My main concern is our 5 yr old daughter but I'm sure there'll be no issues seeing that we're getting him so young. Thanks again for the tips!
