See that's what I love about this forum. Ask and you shall start another discussion lol!

Ok so I am thinking I should just stay with the Avena cleaner and hope it cleans the yeast. Or try green tea. Boy oh boy I never thought it could be so tough to clean ears naturally lol

Thank you Musicdeb for the info on tea tree oil, I would have never second guessed it due to the fact its Amazing

Deb, is 100% right about tea tree oil. It is a very strong antibacterial, while it is great for many things always double check to make sure it is not too strong for what you want to use it for. Oil of oregano is also very good but not for inside ears and it has to be very diluted usually with olive oil.

I have looked into Zymox and apparently I can't get it here in Canada. Just talked to the vet pharmacist to see if there is oral meds he can take

It's all good now. The vet got back to me and I now have Surolan medication. Its thick and I have to put in 1ml 2x a day so with that amount it will coat his ear. I now wash his ears out 2x a week while he is on it. So lets keep fingers crossed.
The difference between vets cleaning ears and groomers is no different unless they have to put tubs in to flush the canal. Murphy doesn't need that so he is good to go get it done.

I also found a groomer that will do it free for me, well Murphy. So I will bring him to her tomorrow.

Thanks for everything you have all inputted in this thread. It has really helped me and I hope it helps someone else
Murphy thanks you all too. I don't think he liked the vinegar and I am going to use green tea to clean them till its gone

just to give an update.....That medicine is so easy to put in his ears. I put it in 2 medicine syringes for cough medicine for babies and it was about 30 sec....DONE
WOW thank goodness.

I liked the fact that there was no fuss. Murphy didn't even mind and he loved the massage after. I just wish I started with this stuff. Maybe next time we need meds I will ask what other stuff there is before I waste good money.

i use a product called ket flush...you can get it from any vet...i pour the solution on a towel and i clean the ear...he fusses a bit, but i manage to get it done. the ket flush keeps the ears cleaner longer, and its an excellent solution to keep the yeast away. the oily stuff never worked on my dogs, and alcohol is too harsh, especially if they have an existing ear infection. My lab used to get yeast infection constantly, but ever since using the ket flush, she hasnt had one in at least 2 years

Will for sure look for it. I am in Canada and have yet to see that one. Will call around other vet offices maybe. I'm hoping its due to the food. His vet seems to think so. We will know come Oct/Nov. That will be the normal about of time between infections from his last house. So hopefully.
